The Trump administration’s sweeping new tariffs on America’s global trade partners, which includes a 27 per cent duty on imports from India, are set to hit key export sectors — from diamonds and smartphones to solar PV modules and apparel. While the executive order signed on April 2 exempts certain critical minerals, energy products, and pharmaceuticals, most of India’s exports will be subject to higher tariffs.
